Welcome to this world, one month early, Ella Jean Dawson. Born 2:35am on Janurary 19th weighing in at a whopping 5lbs. 13oz. and 20″ tall. She took us all by surprise, as she came in early (we think she will be a banjo player) but mom and baby are doing great!
It was an eventful Saturday night and Sunday morning…Lynda and Jamie had just spent a wonderful and rare evening out watching the inspiring Tim O’Brien and Darrell Scott (we can’t think of a better soundtrack to the beginning of a new life!) and 4 hours after the encore, Ella made her appearance.
Needless to say, Lynda and Pattie’s appearance at the Rooster’s Wife in Aberdeen on January 26th will be rescheduled, anyone heading to Aberdeen this weekend will be highly entertained by Little Country Giants and John Howie Jr.with Billie Feather. Lynda’s looking forward to spending a couple of months with her growing family before returning to the stage in mid-April with the Lynda & Pattie duo for the start of the festival season and their new duo recording is still on track for an April release. We’ll keep you posted with updates.
We are very proud to announce a new musical project by the Lynda & Pattie duo! Lynda Dawson and Pattie Hopkins of The Kickin Grass Band were inspired to form a female bluegrass duo just over a year ago performing both original material and new interpretations of older songs, and will be heading into the studio in early January to record their first duo album! Lynda plays guitar, Pattie plays fiddle and they both sing…lots of sweet duet harmony. This recording will pay homage to their musical role models and explore heartfelt songs from the past. Lynda and Pattie set a realistic budget and timeline for their project, and to reach this goal they are asking for your help!
Please consider a contribution to the Kickstarter campaign this week. You can help fund Lynda and Pattie’s new album here or by searching for “Lynda & Pattie” at www.kickstarter.com. Kickstarter is a platform and resource to help independent artists fund creative projects. In exchange for contributions, backers receive rewards—fun things like copies of the album, t-shirts, homemade apple pies and chocolate cakes! Funding on Kickstarter is all-or-nothing—if they don’t meet their goal they won’t receive any funds.
The girls really appreciate your support! If you’d like to learn more about the Lynda and Pattie duo project click here.
